专业: 社会学Pre-Physical Therapy

为什么选这个专业?

Even though I am only a sophomore, I am already on my third major. I applied to Carroll as a 护理 major, then I was studying exercise science for pre-physical therapy. Now I am a sociology major 和 in the pre-physical therapy program. 社会学 allows me to see the world in a new perspective. I think that will help me in the future when I am working with patients.

What is your career objective?

My career objective is to be a physical therapist for pediatrics or work for an in-patient center. I am not completely sure what field I will end up in, but I will be happy as long as I am helping people.

How has what you’ve learned prepared you for your future?

I have already begun to learn all about the bones, muscles 和 their movements. I have also learned about the cultures of other people 和 how this might affect my interactions with them.

Have you had opportunities to work closely with Carroll faculty?

I love that Carroll has smaller class sizes 和 that my professors actually know who I am. One of my professors from my first year met with every student before an essay was due. During these meetings, he would go over my entire essay, give me feedback 和 even discuss topics from class. This was a great resource that allowed me to improve my grade for that class.

What is the most memorable experience you’ve had in your education at Carroll?

My most memorable experience I’ve had in my education at Carroll was a series of three reports I did in a previous sociology class. We chose 和 researched a social condition over the entire semester 和 showed why it is a problem in today’s society. My topic was educational inequality 和 it was one of my favorite projects that I ever got to do.

How has Carroll enriched your growth as a person?

All throughout high school I ran cross country 和 had a passion for running. At Carroll, I am still able to run on the cross country team 和 keep up with my academics. Being a student-athlete has allowed me to become more responsible 和 build time-management skills.

What would you say to someone considering sociology?

I would tell them that after class they may be mind-boggled, but in a good way. Many times, I left class unable to wrap my mind around some of the concepts we talked about. It was 和 still is so interesting to see a whole other perspective of society.

How has financial aid made a difference in your life?

我收到 奖学金 from both Carroll 和 from the country club I work for back home. This financial aid has helped myself 和 my family tremendously because we don’t have to worry about paying loans in the future.

What’s your favorite place to study on campus?

My favorite place to study on campus is the patio outside of the 图书馆. Of course, I can only study outside on warm days.
